Secret Napa Wines
A Distinctively Different California Wine Club
MISSION STATEMENT
Secret Napa Wines will feature only Secret, unknown or not well known, Napa and Sonoma wines, that are
excellent to exceptional (rated 90 points or higher), sold at reasonable prices and are available for our members to purchase direct from the
Napa Valley and Sonoma County wineries, frequently at a discount.
Unknown Wines Discovered
The first word you need to know is: free.
Secret Napa Wines is a membership California wine club that costs you nothing.
Merely by signing up, you will be regularly notified of secret, unknown
or little-known Napa Valley wines or Sonoma County wines that meet our strict criteria. We only recommend
Napa Valley wines or Sonoma County wines that are:
| |
Rated excellent to exceptional (rated 90 points or higher) |
| |
Priced low enough to make them a great value |
| |
Not known to the general public |
| |
Available to members directly from the wineries |
Members of our California wine club frequently are offered
special
discounts on our recommended wines because winemakers know a nod of
approval from Secret Napa Wines could represent a breakthrough for their unknown
wines.
Our California wine club offers you something for nothing?
What’s in it
for us? Secret Napa Wines gets a small commission on every bottle of wine sold
to its members, AND it’s the same no matter which Napa Valley wines or
Sonoma County wines we recommend from any of the hundreds and hundreds of wineries
here.
Impartial and Fiercely Independent
Nobody can buy recommendations from us. We’re frequently offered Napa
Valley wines or Sonoma County wines for recommendation, but we turn down every
offer and only recommend wines that we buy ourselves. Our impartiality is what
makes us the premier California wine club.
We’re the
only California Valley wine club that specializes in hard-to-find,
high-quality wines. We love wine, and we troll all the wineries, especially
the smaller ones, looking for hidden gems. We spend most of
our waking hours talking about, thinking about, buying and tasting wine. We
can’t get enough, and this madness has been going on for 20 years.
Our Price Quality Formula
We find that we can purchase many Napa and Sonoma red wines at retail within
the following quality and price range:
| |
90-point wine from $15 to $25 |
| |
91-point wine from $20 to $35 |
| |
92-point wine from $30 to $45 |
| |
93-point wine from $35 to $50 |
| |
94-point wine from $45 to $60 |
| |
95-point wine
from $60 to $90 |
| |
96-point wine from $75 to $100 |
While it’s easy to pay more, the red Napa Valley or Sonoma
County wines we feature will only fall
within this range for quality and price; the white wines we feature will generally
be less expensive than reds, using this quality-to-price formula, but will never
be more
expensive.

WHY
WE ARE DOING THIS?
We love wine! To say we are passionate about Napa Valley wine is
an understatement. We spend most of our waking hours, even while
at work, talking about, thinking about, buying and tasting wine.
We can’t get enough, and this madness has been going on for 20
years. Over the years, all of our friends, those close to us and
those casual, those who love and collect wine and those who know
only that wine comes in three colors, red, white and that funny
colored stuff in between, have come to us for secret Napa Valley
wine recommendations. Whether desiring to buy an exceptionally
good Napa Valley wine or Sonoma County wine as a present, or to
spend no more than $10 for a bottle ...

RATINGS AND THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR
First and foremost, we are absolutely passionate about wine. We
love to drink quality wine. We have been buying wine for over 20
years, predominately Napa Valley Reds and Sonoma County reds.
While we are collectors, we buy wine to drink and share with our
friends and California wine club members. We do not buy Napa wines
or Sonoma wines as an investment. We’re on virtually every mailing
list for cult and impossible-to-get wines. These Napa and Sonoma
County wines cost about as much as a small country, and we
constantly question our sanity about purchasing them—while we’re
drinking them...

WHY WE LOVE PINOT NOIR
If you love red wine but always lament that it is so hard to match
the right red with many foods (say any white fish, most salads,
anything spicy), then you need to be drinking Pinot Noir. For
years, when dining I would generally open two bottles of wine, a
white and red, drink the white with the first course and the red
with the entree. While this certainly works, truth be told, much
of the time, I'd rather drink only ...

IN SEARCH OF THE PERFECT WINE
Searching for the perfect Napa wine always reminds me of The
Perfect Storm: despite all the trial and error, planning and
preparation, you still never know what’s going to happen.
Recently, I was dining in San Diego with my friends Dan and Maria
from Texas. Dan is a serious Bordeaux collector and doesn’t like
to drink young wine. He can drink great wine at its prime because
he’s been collecting long enough to have a cellar full of first
and second growths, dating back to ...
