Why We Are Doing This

We love wine! To say we are passionate is an understatement. We spend most of our waking hours, even while at work, talking about, thinking about, buying and tasting wine. We can’t get enough and this madness has been going on for 20 years.

Over the years, all of our friends, those close to us and those casual, those who love and collect wine and those who know only that wine comes in three colors, red, white and that funny colored stuff in between, have come to us for wine recommendations. Whether desiring to buy an exceptionally good bottle as a present, or to spend no more than $10 for a bottle for a party, our friends and friends of our friends have asked for assistance.

While we have always been conscious of price and careful about how much we spend to buy a bottle of wine, we love great wine.

It is really fun to drink excellent wine at reasonable prices that our friends haven’t discovered. The trick has always been to find really good wine at a fair price.

We started rating wine 15 years ago as a means of differentiating, by quality and price, one wine from another.

Admittedly, over the years, as we drank better and better wine, we didn’t want to drink anything that was not really good. Now when we talk about really good wine, we mean wine we rate at least 90 points (which is considered excellent by the major reviewers, Wine Spectator, Parker and Tanzer). After all, life is too short not to drink great wine. We personally don’t want to drink a wine not rated at least 90 points.

From years of tasting, collecting and recommending, we have found that we have tastes that most others agree with. We have consistent palettes and almost always rate wine within one point of each other. Further, whenever we tell anyone that we think a particular wine is really good, the person ends up agreeing with us and asking for more recommendations.

One of the more difficult aspects of purchasing wine, is finding good value. We want to drink excellent wine and we want to pay a fair price. Wine is simply too expensive to spend $30 or more for a bottle and be disappointed.

We have spent 20 years searching for excellent wine at reasonable prices. From our experience and relationships in Napa and Sonoma, we can take the guesswork out of the equation for our members to purchase wine. We will feature wine that you will love; wine that is excellent and reasonably priced.
